Recon

Why does Locke need someone to do recon for him? In smoke form, we've seen him kill dozens of people, some armed with guns and some armed with ash. In human form, we've seen him get stabbed in the chest. As far as we know Locke has never been harmed. Of course that doesn't mean he can't be harmed. So, that leads me to believe that Locke has a weakness. But what is that weakness? Is it a person, place or thing? It probably has something to do with what's locked behind the door on Widmore's sub. Could Walt be locked behind that door on the sub? It sure would be great to get some deeper insight into Walt's powers.

The Next Guy

In this last episode, The Substitute, Smokey reveals to Sawyer that Jacob had been looking for a replacement to take over duties of protecting the island. The remaining candidates are Jack, Hurley, Sayid (most likely not, since he's dead) and either Sun or Jin. Sawyer's up there on the list, but clearly he wants off the island.

Of the people left, Hurley is the most qualified. He's the only one on the list who's actually seen and spoken to Jacob, he's the one the cabin appeared to out of nowhere, a god damn BIRD screamed his name, and his whole life has revolved around the numbers, which were being transmitted from the island until Rousseau swapped out the transmission for her own.

He's a good person. He's never killed anyone. And it's been alluded to a number of times in the past few episodes that he's the new leader of the pack.

As for how Ben got off the island to become a European History teacher, well, we're all assuming that jughead is what sank the island. What if that wasn't the case? What if jughead made the island barely habitable, so everyone left. Then the island changed it's location to some spot under the ocean? That would certainly explain Ben and Ethan's appearances off island.

Premiere Date

February 2nd is fast approaching and in anticipation I've been watching every season starting with episode 1. I just finished season 1 last night, and I think that season will be more relevant than ever.

The first episode of the final season is called LAX. From videos shown at Comic-Con this past year, I gather that next season starts with all of our 815 survivors actually making it to their destination thanks to the explosion Juliet caused. If that's true, here's what the passengers of flight 815 can expect:

Claire: expecting to find a couple waiting at the airport to adopt her baby, realizes she's been taken for a ride, literally.

Sayid: with an address for his long lost love, Nadia, he seeks her out to be reunited.

Jack: dead father in tow, has his funeral and some closure.

Kate: captive and hopeless, can expect a lovely stay in a state prison for years to come.

Hurley: surprises his mom for her birthday, but what terribly unlucky event will happen as a result?

Clearly everyone's lives were better on the island, they just didn't know it. So how is this grave mistake fixed?

Richard Alpert is the Sun

After hearing Sawyer refer to Richard as "your friend with the eyeliner", it suddenly struck me. Yes, we've all made the declaration that Richard looks Egyptian, but once Sawyer confirmed it, I thought, "Richard Alpert, R. A., Ra!" Richard is the sun god Ra, and the fact that we saw an Egyptian statue at the beginning of the episode sort of solidified that for me.

Ra's arch enemy was Apep, a serpent (like the smoke monster?) and a part of the underworld, who attacked the sun each night.

Horace (Horus in Egyptian) also reeks of Egyptian influence. Horus was the god of the sky and the Eye of Horus was associated with Ra, his father.

Questions I Want Answered

I'm making a list of questions I care about knowing the answer to. We'll see how long it takes for the show to get to these:

1. What the fuck is the smoke monster?
2. Why does the smoke monster kill some people and "infect" others?
3. How did Whidmore get to the island? Was he born there?
4. What's the deal with the 4-toed statue?
5. Is Miles Dr. Chang's son?
6. Why don't Mrs. Hawking and Richard Alpert age?
7. What happened to the slaves and crew on The Black Rock?

Obviously there are a million other questions, but I really only care about these. If you think you know the answers, go ahead and sound off. We'll see if you're right in the end.
