I'm also disappointed that this Charles vs. Ben war now makes everything else irrelevant. It doesn't matter that Richard Alpert doesn't age or whether he arrived on the island on the Black Rock, it doesn't matter what the smoke monster is, it doesn't matter if we find out what really happened to Rousseau's team or how Montand lost his arm. I almost feel like we can skip ahead to the final 4 episodes of the final season now because nothing in between will have any bearing.
I am jaded and disillusioned and lost. Why do I even own a TV anymore? And does that even matter in the coming war?

There is obviously more to the Widmore vs. Ben than we have learned. If there wasn't they would have saved it until the end of season 6. I think since the first half of the series didn't have quite the direct approach as season 4 that it is throwing people off.
WHOA, Rockstar! Don't throw the tv in the pool yet.
Keep in mind this is just "The Beginning of the End". They have to clear out the politics of the island before Locke can get to the core mythology.
Keep in mind that Jacob doesn't like Ben. He fucking gave him cancer, remember the spinal tumor? Plus Ben really doesn't seem to know anything about the smoke monster. Locke will.
Jacob is asking Locke for help. We'll get to the 4-toed statue stuff next season when the Six make it back to the island to be led around by an in control Locke who never left.
I agree with Roger. It's all about the journey. That's where all the exciting stuff happens. The ending will never live up to the high expectations that we have. It's just not possible.
Did anyone notice TV Juliet's response to Sun's question on the beach? Why was she putting so much effort into her hut if they were leaving soon? I don't think Juliet believes she will ever leave the island.
Why did the others let Desmond enter the numbers and push the button on the computer all that time? Did they even know about Des?
Seacrest out.
Yeah, the Hatch is a problem.
Ben knew all about it from his Dharma days making supply runs to it. It had cameras in it which Mikal was observing from the Flame Station and, oh yeah, the Others took over every other hatch on the island including the underwater one.
If Ben wanted the button to be pushed, he would have Others there pushing the button. If he didn't, why leave Dharma folk there WITH guns to maybe push the button?
Also, why the air drop of supplies to the hatch if you have workmen making supply runs? (and why/how are the air drops still occuring?)
Also, if the purge happened in 1987 and Kelvin was in Iraq teaching Sayid how to torture in 1991, then how the fuck did Kelvin end up in the hatch?
Yeah, the hatch doesn't make much sense anymore.
testing... I want to see if this works!
Go... Desmond!!
Great comments Nora.
I can see how your interest is wanning, Juliet. Every season, except season 1, I am usually disappointed about 1/2 way through, but then when the season is complete and I rewatch them in a blitzkrieg over a weekend, I see how things fit in the overall story and like it better.
I really hope that the Ben vs. Widmore thing doesn't take over the show too much. I like this show for its characters and their individual stories. The mysteries of the island are very cool and drive me insane between episodes, but it is really the characters in the show that keep me interested. I am looking forward to the Jin and Sun episode this week. I loved Jin's story in Season 1 and I hope their flash forward (I'm 99% sure) is super-badass and cool.
I believe there is still a lot of hope for the show, but it really depends on where it ends. I'm sticking with it no matter what...simply because I am a Lostoholic and just can't get through my week with out a nip of the Lostohol.
Last, in the coming war, you will certainly need your TV. How else is the government supposed to deliver their lies to get us into it?
