So if you don't know the producers say there is huge twist in the season finale that they are calling The Frozen Donkey Wheel in order to keep it top secret.
My theory?
Sawyer works for Widmore and always has.
Evidence?
-He is a Con Man
-A whole episode was dedicated to teaching the viewers the ground rules of the Long Con
-The Island has never reached out to him. He has never had a "horse" manifestation on the island or been anywhere near the smoke monster. Ever. (The island didn't bring the real Sawyer to him, it brought him for Locke).
-He has no connection to any of the shows mythologies and no role to play other than love triangle.
-He didn't kill the Freighter Mercs from the bushes when they passed by.
This is my thinking. It would make Sawyer fucking cool again and create some drama on the island between him & Locke while Ben & the Oceanic 6 are off in the real world.
Naysayers? Bellyrubs? Bring it!

Interesting theory.
So they're gonna move the island using whatever transporter is in the Orchid Station. Very exciting stuff! I love this team of Ben and Locke, love, love, love it. And I love that Ben was just Locke while the Island waited for Locke to be ready. And who was the chosen one before Ben and Locke? Was it Richard? Is that why he never ages? Maybe the chosen one remains forever young until the new chosen one emerges.
Back to moving the island for a second. So far, everything we've seen that has been "moved" has moved through time, except when Ben was transported to Tunisia, just like the polar bear, and was moved through time and space. So when they move the island, it's entirely possible that the island will be moved into the future and right smack in the middle of the Tunisian desert. And I wonder if the Ben that landed in Tunisia was Ben "testing" the transporter before they used it on the Island. Maybe he was wearing that heavy coat because they thought they were going to move the Island someplace cold.
The deal with Richard & Ben is as follows:
"In the Season 3 DVD commentary for "The Man from Tallahassee", Richard Alpert is described as someone who is not interested in leading the Others but is very influential in finding and selecting a leader. In the commentary for "The Man from Tallahassee", he is described as being similar to a Panchen Lama choosing the next Dalai Lama. He and Ben keep each other in "check" by having the power to pick/veto each other's replacement on the Island. Ben's role would be to pick the next Panchen, should the need arise. This keeps the two in a sort of balanced power relationship. They are allies, yet they have some measure of control over the other should one get out of hand."
With that in mind, I think you are correct that Richard chose Ben until Locke became ready but Richard's immortality is something else. His story is tied into the Four Toed Staute stuff. He is part of the pre-history of the island.
I prefer to think that Ben was wearing the parka because Back To the Future showed us that time travel froze the delorean and Ben needed the jacket to stay warm as he traveled forward in time. I think he is going to jump from the island sooner than later and leave Locke hanging at a critical period as the Six are leaving the island or immediately after.
And, what, that's all you've got to say about my Sawyer theory? Isn't he your boyfriend? Aren't you bored with the show now because you're SUCH a Skater? And you've got nothing to say about me calling your boyfriend out as a villain? Nothing. really?
How dissapointing.
The Sawyer theory could work, I hadn't thought of it.
So do you think Widmore was a "choosen one" when he was on the island?
It is entirely possible that Widmore was, at one point on the island, and like Ben now, can't come back.
Obviously, Shaun, your theory about the big Lost ending was wrong. Just not even close, which I love. It makes me giddy and elated and I did a little happy dance when the episode was over.
